Each November, we take our Zone Leaders on a hike to start our day of Zone Leader Council.
It is a very spiritual experience to get out in the beautiful trails and talk about the Doctrine of Christ and what is really important to us.
As we started up the trail, each zone leader picked up two rocks...one of which eventually got deposited into a backpack and then carried by Elder Lynn, to make us think about how our burdens are carried by the Lord.
It really made us think.
Elder Lynn quietly did his job, carrying each persons extra rock, without calling attention to himself or what he was doing. He was the perfect example of humility.
When we reached the top, we looked out over the view north, south, east and west and each zone could point in the direction of where they serve.
We had stations along the way where we stopped and discussed Doctrines of Christ.
Following a trail or path, was a perfect analogy for having Faith in Jesus Christ, the steep, rocky, but very doable trail of Repentance, the cleansing ordinance of Baptism and the Holy Ghost and of course...Enduring to the End! The Atonement of Jesus Christ helps us all along our trail back to Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ.
I am personally so grateful to my Savior for his perfect example!
Here we all are at the summit.
Elder Lynn still carrying our burdens...
...until we got to leave our burdens to the Lord.
After our beautiful hike experience, we were met at the nearby Pinnacle Peak building with the Kings and Calls, who had prepared a pancake breakfast for all of us! It was great!
We are blessed to have such great leadership and member service to our mission!
As we were there, a big flatbed truck came delivering one of the first big panels for the temple...you can see in the background the front of the temple being covered in stonework! It is taking shape day to day!
Front: Sister Taylor, Elders Gerber, Bartlett, Lynn, Weston, Dye, Bolton, Castanos, Campbell, Alvis, Brame, Bartleson. Back: President Taylor, Elders Hernandez, Neves, Steinfeldt, Nield, Miller, Griffin, Burden, Hastings, M. Peterson, Lancaster, Whipple, Hamblin, Pollmeier.
WELCOME NEW ZONE LEADERS
