AZ PHOENIX MISSION GOES ONLINE!

 I have been waiting for what seems like forever to post about this new development in our mission!

But, until it was made public, and needed to be made public, I was not allowed to do so.

So here goes...
May 23 one district in Glendale was invited to a special meeting with Leaders from Salt Lake to be asked to test out DIGITAL DEVICES as missionaries!

 I wish you could have seen their faces when they pulled out iPad minis and iPhones to give to each companionship.  It was priceless!

 I think you get a glimpse of it in their faces in these pictures.

 It was pretty much like Christmas.

 Now, we had some brand new training missionaries and we were giving them iPads...
Is the Church crazy?

Actually, we found that the Jr companions were pretty helpful in leading the older companions who had been away from technology for longer.

 These missionaries were trained in how to use the functions of online tools, asked to create a missionary FACEBOOK account and teach online in addition to using the digital tools.

 Can you sense the TRUST we had to have in these individuals?  The level of obedience and consecration had to be incredible!

For the past two months, these missionaries, or others who have been transferred into this district, have been testing out such apps as
ONLINE PLANNER
ONLINE AREA BOOKS
GPS/LOCATION TOOLS for mapping ward areas



They have been key in working out bugs in the programs so the Church could quickly fix things and make this become a reality for missions around the world sometime in the future.

We applaud them for their great efforts!  They have been just BRILLIANT!

 Now, fast forward to July 2013 when President Taylor and I were driving home from Flagstaff and received a call from Brother Donaldson of the Missionary Department in the Church.  He informed us that the AZ Phoenix Mission is being invited to become an ONLINE PROSELYTING MISSION!
There have been about 9 test missions doing the online teaching for about 3 years.  They know it is the way to reach EVERY NATION, KINDRED, TONGUE AND PEOPLE!

 So, we invited our Mission Leadership and companions, to meet the day after our ML Council and surprised them with a SKYPE training session from Brother Donaldson teaching them how to do Online Proselyting.
They have to have a MORMON.ORG profile
They have to clean up their FACEBOOK PAGE
They have to be EXACTLY OBEDIENT in order for this to work!

 They asked good questions and participated in discussions over Skype...

 ...then it was time to have some HANDS-ON time with computers and iPads.


Almost every missionary had a device to work with.  It was just amazing to walk around and see them all at work.

 It looks like some big board meeting of a corporation, but it is young missionaries in action!

We still only have the one district with the DIGITAL TOOLS of iPad minis and iPhones.

We do not know if and when those will be made part of our proselyting efforts in this mission.

 What we do know is...THE WORK OF THE LORD IS HASTENING!

The importance of what is happening right now in missionary work is compared by Apostles of the Church, to the importance of the Restoration of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

We know that the end is being ushered in by the ability to now preach the Gospel in EVERY NATION and in EVERY TONGUE through online efforts.

Your missionary will be going online by the end of August.
We hope you are ready to support them in their desire to be completely obedient so this effort can be spread to other missions around the world.








We are testing to see if missionaries can be trusted with this charge.
We KNOW that they can.  They have proven themselves in the little things as well as the big things.
 Look forward to sharing your friends and neighbors to teach the Gospel to online.
Be prepared to maybe teach alongside your son or daughter as a "Member Present" in one of their online lessons to someone in another state, or country.

 The time is not far off when these things will be a reality for members all over the world.

In the comfort of their own homes, people can ask questions and get answers that will prepare them to meet up with missionaries IN PERSON.

The goal of this effort is to hand off these people to REAL LIVE MISSIONARIES in every country that they are able!
