SPANISH SPECIALIZED TRAINING 6/14

President Taylor and I had a blast with this training!  We have been living out of suitcases this entire week, and I forgot my bag with my game props at our daughters apartment.  Lucky for me, President Taylor bailed me out!
I began the day with a challenge to all our missionaries to STEP IT UP with their language skills!  According to the White Handbook, they are to speak in their MISSION LANGUAGE AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE!  And that is most of the time!  We are excited for them to grow in skills!!  The Church is pushing all missions to have their missionaries focus on their language skills, so we were excited to hold this training.  And yes, even Sister Taylor speaks in Spanish for these trainings...I ask for lots of help, but that is how we learn!

 We had discussions from 3 of our great sets of missionaries on topics of concern...

 They were great participants and had tons of ideas for how we can use our language study time.

 Elders McCuch and Arave were one of our discussion leader pairs.

 From here we broke into groups for language training games.

4 games in the gym:

Quien Soy? - like 20 questions with the name of someone or something on your back!

"Hispana-Gories" like Scattergories

"Dibufonos"  where you draw a picture and label it, fold it and have the next person draw what they see written, the next folds and writes what they see drawn, the next folds and draws what they see written etc.  

 "Historias" where you start a story from the bag, and have 30 seconds to tell part of it, then pass it to the next person to continue for 30 seconds, until it is all done.

 I think Elder Cordero figured out who or what he was!

And we had a large group for the famous
RUEDA DE FORTUNA    WHEEL OF FORTUNE!

President Juchau does such a great job with this game!  He is excellent in his Spanish!

We love our language speaking missionaries!
It is special to serve a mission, and special to have the commission to learn a language.  It is an investment in the future for those missionaries.  The Church invested in President Taylor as a young missionary in Texas and Venezuela...who now uses his language to serve here in the APM.  We hope to use our Spanish in the future as well!  We know it will bless many people in the Gospel as well as in careers down the road!
