It is right off of the highway and in a newer area of the valley with the potential for a lot of growth...precisely why there is a new stake center in the first place! The Church is growing in this area!
It worked out better than could have been planned, that we were going up for Doug's baptism and were in the area for the OPEN HOUSE of this beautiful building.
You would have a good idea of our beliefs from going to this open house and a great respect for members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints if you did not have that respect before.
We had Elders Knobbe and Harline telling about missionary work and why we share the Gospel and preach baptism. They were in the room with the baptismal font. They did a great job as well!
We went through the tour with a group of City officials from nearby communities...mayors, assistant mayors, city council and such. They were great.
Each group from the stake/wards involved did a wonderful job! We saw many, many city and neighborhood people coming as we left.
Afterwards we asked some of them what surprised them about the event. One said how many members they saw there that they recognized from the community. Another said how they did not realize how many LDS people there are in the area, another wished that the word would have been spread over TV and radio to get more people to the open house, they thought it was so good!
We hope that people's hearts were touched by the Spirit as they toured this great facility. We know ours were!
