Interview weeks are so much fun...SO BUSY but so fun!
Our third day this week was with the PHOENIX NORTH ZONE!
President Taylor was able to visit with each individual missionary in this zone today. That is the purpose of the entire day!

Once again, I started the day with a discussion about the DOCTRINE OF CHRIST and what that means to each individual missionary.  I challenged them to each draw it out in picture form for me and we talked about it.  I ask them to be able to draw this out as they teach people...as a teacher myself, I love hands-on learning as well as using many forms including visual.  Ask your missionary how they draw the Doctrine of Christ.

My favorite is a circle with the Atonement in the center, surrounded by the words going clockwise: FAITH/ REPENTANCE/ BAPTISM/ GIFT OF THE HOLY GHOST.  Then I draw a large arrow also going clockwise around these two circles that is labeled "ENDURE TO THE END."  It works for me!
We discussed the many forms of adversity that Satan uses and how our armor is held together by the chain mail of OBEDIENCE...truly, Satan cannot get to us if we are obedient.  It is when we choose to take off parts of our armor that he can get to us!

Elder Rodgers did the usual VEHICLE SAFETY lesson and CLEAN CAR AWARDS!  We love the Rodgers and all our office couples.  Truly your missionaries are SO LOVED by so many in this mission!
Our health lesson was fittingly, FITNESS, perfect for those NEW YEARS RESOLUTIONS to exercise more!
Missionaries have a set plan on how to do this and I encourage them strongly to be obedient...I am not afraid to promise great blessings to those who follow their daily exercise schedule faithfully.
Going along with this, my GAME TIME was the MISSIONARY OLYMPICS!!  We had four countries, who each made a cool flag as we marched into the gym for some healthy competition!

The Primary had made some cool Olympics rings that we borrowed for some photos!  Really fun!

 We had 7 events:

THE LIAHONA LAUNCH: similar to shotput, but with styrofoam liahona


THE BARGE BLAST: using paper plate Jaredite barges like discus

 THE GADIANTON KNOCK-DOWN: yes, wearing a pantyhose with tennis ball inside to knock over water bottles...and oh, so many creative ways to get this done!

the HOLD TO THE ROD: how many chopsticks can you balance on the back of your hand, toss into the air and catch with the same hand?

 The WINDS OF ADVERSITY: blowing up a balloon and using that air inside to blow cups labeled with trials onto the floor.  How many can you do in a minute?

 ETERNAL PROGRESSION: two hula hoops that you have to move to the side and then jump into the next hoop before moving it again, over and over in one minute.

 THE FIREY DARTS: tossing velcro balls onto a poster of challenges with velcro pads, how many out of 6 balls.

 Well...it was a blast!  It was exhausting for some, and just plain fun!

 After the Olympics, it was time for training from the great Zone Leaders, Elders Wade and Barley.

They taught the principle of ACCOUNTABILITY so beautifully.  They used an analogy of a track and the runners of a relay race.  It was really cool!

My last training was on how to gather information in a variety of settings.  We use a sort of SPEED CONTACTING game to rotate around and visit with a bunch of people to practice what we were learning about.


All in all, it was a great day.  The purpose was to have each missionary have a personal interview with President Taylor and that purpose was fulfilled.  They love that time individually with him.
We use the rest of the time together to fulfill all the trainings and bonding time that you saw above.

This is the one and true Gospel of Jesus Christ.  We have the privilege to work really hard to share this with many people here in the Phoenix area.  We love and rescue and teach and then love some more!
