Quarterly we hold LEADERSHIP TRAINING with all District Leaders Zone Leaders and Sister Training Leaders.
We met in Surprise North Stake Center for this training.

 One of this things we were really excited about was having Hannah and Randy come to teach us about BECOMING SELF RELIANT.
They are our counselors from LDS Family Services and we love them so much!
I have learned so much about what it means to be self reliant as we have served here as Missionaries/Mission Parents.
The grid that they have drawn on the board helps me to understand in a visual way what it takes to really BECOME who we need to be.
If you could see it in more detail you would see that there are opposite poles of INDEPENDENCE and DEPENDENCE as well as opposite poles of LOGIC and EMOTION.  In other words, you have to have the perfect blend of all four of those things to be truly self reliant.  Think about it...we need to depend on God and on others to a certain extent.  We need to have some emotion and not be all logic.  It really makes sense.  I think it will help us be better companions, friends, leaders, parents.

At lunchtime, we caught a few Elders checking out the Mission Flag...got to see where they signed it!

 The stake that served us, really went all out and decorated cakes with sweet messages for us!

Lunch is good for several reasons...



It helps us refocus when we come back.

 We are really hungry and we need food.





And we really like to be with our Mission Friends!

 We always have those who host the meal tell us who they are and if they have any missionaries in their lives.

This young man announced that someday HE will be a missionary!  It was pretty sweet!

We sing a thank you song (Armies of Helaman) and then our Mission Fight Song.  We love the enthusiasm it brings!

Elder Bryson played a beautiful musical number for us...we appreciate his testimony through music.

Elders Bryant and Weiler led a practice teach about how to help correct missionaries as needed.  They did a great job.

 President Taylor led some discussions about key indicators and working with ward and stake leaders.  These great young missionaries have such vision for their areas...many are not supported as well as they would like by their ward or stake leaders or members.
It is a great time to be a missionary! We have so many resources, we have energy and time!  But, we rely on members to help us find people to teach...that is how it is supposed to work and it is a tough transition for some.

One of my favorite parts of the day was our Sister Training leaders in a panel discussion answering the questions of how they can serve and work with the other mission leaders.
There is no handbook for their responsibilities, but we have them carrying out exchanges with focuses guided by input from District Leaders along with elements from Mission Leadership Council.  They do an amazing job!
Just look at them!  They radiate the joy of the Gospel!
