THE GOLDEN PHOENIX RISES!!

PLEASE CLICK ON THIS LINE FOR ALL PHOTOS OF THIS EVENT!
The long awaited day came on Wednesday May 15, 2013.

Our beautiful Phoenix Temple received its crowning glory today!

Here you can see the pedestal that went up an hour or so before the Moroni itself.  It has been fun to see the style of this temple and the upward spikes and pointing towards heaven.
I had never seen Moroni in a box before, so this was really cool.  Our Moroni statue is the smaller of the several sizes that they make, but regal nonetheless.
You can see both the pedestal and the Moroni in this shot.
I skipped transfer planning meeting to be there to photo-document the event for our mission.
They use two cranes to install the toppers for temples.  One is for the workers to manage the pieces going up and the other to haul the pieces.

They successfully got the pedestal over the post that was waiting on top.
At one point, they brought out all the workers from inside the temple as well as those outside for a photo shoot with Moroni.  I love this one where they all raise their hardhats!  We honored them with clapping for their hard work on our temple.

I hope and imagine that some of them felt something special when they saw the golden Moroni and how the members present were so excited to see it go up.
Here they are lowering Moroni with the grounding cables ready to slip down into the pole to string way down to the ground.  It is all so perfectly planned and organized!  The patterns of organization extend to all facets of our lives as members of Christ's Church on the earth.
There were many families of the contracting crew on hand, as well as members that slipped inside the fence to watch.  It was a long hot day, but no one complained and the kids were content to play and watch and wait.
Here you see them taking photos from above...see below and see my web album for four of them!  They look really cool!

Here the two local missionaries, Elders Knabbe and Moala, my photo partners(lens holders) for the day, join me for a HURRAH FOR ISRAEL!

Here is our ENSIGN TO THE NATIONS!
