Thursday we took our quarterly interviews to the WEST MARICOPA ZONE.
The day starts with vehicle inspections and all missionaries come with clean vehicles and then finish them up on the spot. It looks like a new car lot!
It is always fun to see our cute Sisters out there checking fluid levels and tire tread depth and such.
After an opening discussion by the Zone Leaders, I took the zone into the gym for my traditional game. President Taylor is pulling missionaries all day to meet one on one with them...this is the main purpose of the whole day! The training I and the Zone Leaders do is just frosting on the cake.
Today we had a game I will call "ZONE TALK." I asked a series of introspective questions about missions, missionaries and goals. As each one answered, they tossed the ball of string to create a web, or NET of string that would then hold up a ball tossed into the center. Then they worked together to keep it up. They had to TIGHTEN UP, a phrase we use in the mission to be just a little more obedient, and keep the ball moving. It was so much fun.
Elder Rodgers then did bicycle safety and Clean Car Awards. Save up enough points, and you get EXTRA MILES! Yes, missionaries all over the world have limits on how far they can drive.
We also celebrated JULY BIRTHDAYS. Today we had two sisters...HAPPY BIRTHDAY SISTER BAUMGARTNER AND ESPLIN!
For part of my time today we showed the film "The 5000 Day PRoject Two Brothers." This film really makes you think about relationships and your own relationship with God. Check it out if you get the chance. It made us all think, and we shared ideas after the film. It was amazing to see inside the lives of two young LDS boys who grew to love each other and to share the love they felt in their family and their testimonies of Jesus Christ as they developed the faith to serve missions.
We loved having some cultural Happy Birthday songs today with Portuguese (Elder Cardoso and Sister Pickett) and
...Spanish with Elder Cordero from Guatemala.
The Zone Leaders finished up the day with great discussions on how Obedience overlays all the Doctrine of Christ. It is critical to our happiness now and forever.
They also discussed how our morning schedule makes or breaks our day depending on how faithfully we keep it.
Sister Turville, our W Maricopa angel, brought popcicles as a post conference treat! THANKS SISTER TURVILLE!
We know that this is Christ's restored Church and that the only way to be really, truly happy is to follow Jesus Christ, change our lives to follow him, be baptized, live worthy of the Holy Ghost and keep on partaking of the next ordinances in our lives.
