We wait with anticipation for our new missionaries to arrive at the Phoenix International Airport. They are always the last ones to come off of their flight...because our departing missionaries always stop them and talk to them and tell them they have just arrived in the #1 MISSION IN THE WORLD.
And they are right.
We gather up for a group photo in the airport before heading down to get our luggage.
Then it is off to the Mission Office where all our mission office couples introduce themselves and tell how they can be of service to the missionaries. They are INSTRUMENTAL in the success of the mission!
Next we head to the beautiful Mission Home where we take both group photos and photos with each missionary and President and Sister Taylor to mail to their parents.
Above we have the latest group: Front: Sisters Pousima, Groo, Pilcher, Fluckiger, Chord and Sister and President Taylor. Back: Elders Brothers, S. Wood, Mack, P. Wilson, Bruegger, Castanos, Kane and Stott.
This photo is for the benefit of our 5 missionaries that went home Jan. 2. They left their signs of how they felt when they LEFT the mission and we decided that they would apply to how you could feel when you COME to the mission!
As part of our evening Home Evening, we get to know each other and then each missionary receives a letter written by a departing missionary to them. It is a special evening!
The morning after arrival, we all get up and go walk or run together. It was really dark this morning, but all were up and CHEERFUL and yes, it was cold...but not too cold! And a spectacular sunrise as well.
There is never enough time — even this first couple of days — to tell them how much we love them. This group had a special friendliness and bond that will bless them their entire mission experience!
WELCOME, NEW MISSIONARIES!
