PHOENIX N ZONE INTERVIEWS 10/13

Third Day was a Charm!  Our third day of interviews was so fun!
Today we met with the Phoenix N Zone and had the traditional Car inspections by Elder Rodgers along with his treasured CLEAN CAR AWARDS which can be saved up for free miles!  Yes, we are limited in the # of miles we can drive per mission...so extra miles are worth gold!

 Missionaries were trained in how to use an online accident reporting that we hope none of your sons or daughter have to ever use.

In the morning we also trained on using CONFERENCE TALKS to study weekly as a mission before next April General Conference.  Ask your missionary each month for the schedule of talks if you want to follow along at home!!

I also trained on the new ADJUSTING TO MISSIONARY LIFE booklet that our new missionaries and trainers have been using for about 3 weeks now and that each zone will be starting as they receive them.  We are getting really good reports about the content of the booklets and the self assessment that helps missionaries see needs and know where to go to learn how to cope.  We are grateful to have more resources to help us in managing the physical, emotional, social, intellectual and spiritual health of ourselves and our missionaries.

 We spent some time role playing different situations that may come up with members and how to help them understand that we are PURPOSE DRIVEN and that we have rules we need to follow and many times a better or best use of our time.
Often members do not understand that a dinner policy is based on principles of needing to be available between 6-9 at night to teach lessons, or that we should not accept money or groceries from members at the grocery store when we have our own money to use and we are learning to be self reliant.

 Maybe they want to talk about boy or girl friends from home, or about sports etc. Maybe they want us to come play basketball at night to fellowship less active or non members when that is a best job for them.  We use the lens of our purpose and Christ's example of helping others.  It was a lot of fun acting out many examples!

Next we went to the gym for GAME TIME WITH SISTER TAYLOR!  This month, the game was a throwback to 2 years ago when SOCKBALL came to be!  We have to learn something, to have purpose, so we learned about MANNERS!  The object of the game was for team TIES to get more points than team NO-TIES or vice versa!  You get a point by your fearless leaders (Elders Moala and Laititi) tossing the sockball to the missionary closest or fastest, to the right answer posted all around the gym.

It was a blast!

 I don't mind them getting a little physical or crazy...it makes it more interesting as we learn!
Ask your missionary about the RULE OF 12 or all about how to treat a food on your plate that  you don't care for...they are now experts!

And here are your amazing missionaries!  They are incredible in every way!  I know you wish you could just be a fly on the wall watching them in action...I assure you, they are wonderful!!

We finished up our day after the game by discussing online proselyting and how we can make it more effective and tighten up on using it more consecrated.  Here is where you can help as family and friends.
Remember that this tool is only used for proselyting purposes.  It is not to communicate in between emails with information about anything.  Please use our office staff to help communicate any time!  They LOVE TO SERVE you and your missionary!
Please try not to post anything that may distract your missionary.  For example, if someone passes away, it is best for us to call them to warn them before they get an email or a FB post.  Family news can be really distracting.
Use this tool to HELP them.  Hook them up with  your friends or neighbors that they can chat with or send messages to tell them what they are doing on their mission and to offer to teach them online...and then YOU can sit in on a chat or skype lesson!  How cool would that be???
We LOVE your missionaries and love to be with them.  They are truly amazing people sharing an amazing message of hope and action and love!
