Special Leadership Oct 2013

PLEASE CLICK ON THIS LINE FOR ALL PHOTOS OF THIS EVENT
Leadership meetings are usually held quarterly...but we called an extra meeting this month to present a wonderful new handbook to our missionary leaders called "ADJUSTING TO MISSIONARY LIFE"
This booklet teaches about the many facets of emotional health for missionaries and will be a great blessing for missionaries in general.
We had all our Sister Training Leaders, District Leaders and Zone Leaders at this day of training.

There was an entire day of training on many subjects, starting with the doctrine from the parable of the prodigal son.
Our Scripture for the month is Alma 31: 34-35
34 O Lord, wilt thou grant aunto us that we may have success in bringing them again unto thee in Christ.
35 Behold, O Lord, their asouls are precious, and many of them are our brethren; therefore, give unto us, O Lord, power and wisdom that we may bring these, our brethren, again unto thee.
All that we do is run through the lens of OUR PURPOSE to INVITE and HELP others come unto Christ...to return.  We recognize that all of us chose Christ once, before we came to earth, so we are inviting ALL TO RETURN!!

Parents and friends, I am posting this photo of the board after a discussion we had on how we can tighten up our effectiveness in ONLINE PROSELYTING.
YOU CAN HELP!!
As I mentioned, we run all that we do through our purpose.
"Invite others to come unto Christ by helping them receive the restored Gospel through faith in Jesus Christ and His Atonement, repentance, baptism, receiving the gift of the Holy Ghost and enduring to the end."
In other words, the ONLY COMMUNICATION we can have online is within that purpose.  It is not to tell family news, medical advice, share photos etc.  Email or a letter or a call to our office are still the way to handle those sorts of things.
As you prepare friends to have an online lesson with your missionary, this will be rewarding for both you and your missionary.
You can follow the example of your missionary by posting appropriate INVITATIONS to your family and friends to do something Gospel centered.  Give it a try!!
We had many great teachings about how to use the new ADJUSTING TO MISSIONARY LIFE booklet.  We have already been learning the principles of good emotional health and this is a great new resource for missionaries! We invited our friends from LDS Family Services to come learn about it with us and to share some ideas with us afterwards.  It was great advice!  We are so blessed to have them in our mission!
We also discussed using our FOCUS and LENS of our missionary purpose in how we interact with members and in all activities we choose to participate in.
We try to choose BEST when confronted with GOOD, BETTER, and BEST.  We encourage you to do the same!
